My
interest in art started when I was very young. I always found drawing
to be such an enjoyable way to pass the time. Over the years I continued
to draw, anywhere and everywhere. I never left home without a sketch
book.
In high school I began to experiment in other mediums, learning new
techniques and discovering other individuals with the same desire for
art as myself. I did well with my art, selling a large body of work
to the Brockville Collegiate Institute and being honoured and recognized
for my efforts in this field with a bursary for college.
Thus in 2002 I went to Toronto to attend the Ontario College of Art
and Design. I loved the atmosphere there and the people were fabulous.
As it was, after completing my first year I did not continue at OCAD
but returned home to Brockville.
Here I have had the pleasure of taking some classes at the St. Laurence
College, in their Fine Arts program, and I truly have benefited from
my time there. It has encouraged me to expand my skills into painting
and I find this new medium refreshing.
With the expert help of my husband we turned the fourth bedroom of our
home into my studio where you'll often find me when our two little ones
are napping. It is hard to let any opportunity to be creative pass me
by.
When I produce a piece of work I get great satisfaction from the process
as well as the finished product, but truthfully I get the most pleasure
from making other people happy with the work I create.
